Rose Queen and Rock and Roll Royalty Get Audience shaking

Rock and roll “royalty” got the audience shaking in a fundraising concert for the neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital.

Pure Presley, AKA Paul Larcombe, who is one of the top Elvis tribute  artists in the UK, performed the King’s iconic hits at Willaston Social Club, helping to raise more than £2,600.00 that will fund five new neonatal cot units for babies that need extra care.

The foot-stomping event was organised by Willaston Rose Queen Amy Smallman, 10, and her attendants Lucy Ann and Eloise.  The trio put in an incredible effort to bring the event together, with support from the local community.

During her reign Amy chose to support the One in Eleven Appeal, by Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, which aimed to create a new neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.  Although the appeal has now reached its fundraising buildings target, the girls have continued to support the cause.

Their on-going efforts will allow the hospital to purchase equipment such as much needed cot units for the new unit when it is completed.

Amy’s Mum Donna Smallman said: "the event was a wonderful success and we would like to thank everyone that attended and donated generously.  We would also like to thank Mick and everyone at Willaston Social Club for selling tickets on our behalf.”

"The girls worked so hard to organise the concert and on the night they sold raffle tickets, collected donations and auctioned an Elvis figurine which fetched £38."

“Amy would like to give a personal thank you to Tessa Todd for helping to organise the event and of course the biggest thank you goes to the King himself Paul Larcombe, for giving such a fantastic entertaining performance.”

Amy and her attendants have raised more than £1,000 for the One in Eleven Appeal from a Smarties challenge, where they filled the sweet tubes with 20p coins, and have also collected donations and raised money at a stall at Willaston Primary Schools Christmas Fair and sold Baked Goods all in an effort to continue to raise money for Amy’s chosen charity.
