Inspired by the success of our previous Fete Days, the Willaston Fete Day Committee, namely Wayne and Julie Lewis, John Flackett and Brian and Pat Hancock, decided to take on the complex and hugely time consuming task of organising 21 stalls which were booked for the day, and were a mix of professional stalls  created and run by volunteers.  Also, there were many children’s rides available which made the day a momentous occasion and included the crowning of the new Willaston Rose Queen, Greta Piasecka.

Cllr Pochin said:

"The Willaston Village Fete provided a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for the local community. My congratulations to all those who gave their time and helped organise such a lovely event. I think it is so important for local communities to stage these events if at all possible as it really creates a strong community bond and is an opportunity for neighbours and friends to relax and enjoy themselves. In an age of technology and computer games it was great to see the children taking part in traditional events like the fancy dress competition and the 'dog with the waggiest tail' competition!"

Cllr Lewis stated that a lot of credit should go to the organising committee for their Herculean efforts!
